Endowment for Faculty

Discovery and innovation require human resources. Our ability to make a lasting impact on learning is directly dependent on our ability to attract and retain a highly respected faculty and to provide the support faculty members need to teach and conduct distinguished research on practical problems related to education.

Faculty excellence has always been the foundation of the Curry School’s success. Currently, we have 97 full-time faculty members; half are women and about 10% are minorities. Our specialty areas are wide-ranging, from teacher education to administration and supervision to clinical psychology to kinesiology.

We must sustain and increase the quality and diversity of our faculty and provide significantly better support so that they and our students can continue their excellent work. During our campaign, we are seeking endowment support for one eminent and one emerging scholar in each priority area where they do not already exist, as well as postdoctoral research associates. Eminent scholars are established leaders in their fields who can use their experience to attract grant support for high-profile, high-impact research projects. Emerging scholars, our rising stars, will launch their careers here conducting significant research in our new and expanded centers. Postdoctoral research fellows will provide valuable support to the research teams formed in each priority area.

Donors may establish endowed professorships in their own names or in the names of others whom they wish to honor, and the chairs will exist in perpetuity*. Income from the endowed gifts pays the faculty members’ salaries and associated costs. In many cases, the income also defrays expenses related to the faculty members’ work, such as staff support, travel, and research-related costs.

Do Some Good!

Endowments for professorships and postdoctoral fellows established through this Campaign will enable us to recruit and retain a talented and diverse faculty. These respected faculty members will further enhance the quality of the Curry student experience and increase opportunities for innovative education research and discovery.
