Named for the University's signature landmark, this society salutes alumni, parents, and friends who provide leadership annual support to the University of Virginia.

How Do I Become a Member?

Donors qualify for membership by contributing $2,500 or more in annual operating support for the University to any of its schools and programs during the fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). Cumulative gifts during the same fiscal year to different schools or programs of your choice all count towards membership in the Rotunda Society.

Why Should I Become a Member?

Join an elite cadre of donors who recognize the value of empowering the University with immediate cash resources to fund new ideas and initiatives as they emerge. Through the Rotunda Society you can channel your giving to those areas of the University for which you are most passionate. You may choose to fund the preservation of Historic Buildings and Grounds, new advances in cancer research, creative joint education collaborations such as the program between the Curry School of Education and the College of Arts & Sciences, or any of a number of annual giving efforts across the Grounds.

What Can I Support?

Are you a graduate of the Architecture School who has a passion for lacrosse, or perhaps an Engineering alum who loved the Lawn? Are you a parent who wants to ensure that your child has ready access to computer support, whether in the classroom or the dorm room? Through annual giving, you can direct your support to any or all of these interests. You can also elect to leave a portion of your contribution totally unrestricted, giving the University the greatest flexibility to direct funds to where they are needed most. Make a gift now to one of the University's twelve schools or any other worthy program of your choice.

The Power of Numbers

Dome Level Gifts ($25,000 and up) supported such programs and activities as the following:

• McIntire School of Commerce
  Sponsorship for a full year of student activities led by McIntire's Office of Student Services and the Commerce Council, including leadership training, mentoring programs, and team-building activities.
• Curry School of Education
  The professional redesign of the Curry School's website to support the recruitment of top students and faculty, increase dissemination of news, and provide greater ease of use for website visitors.

Colonnade Level Gifts ($10,000 to $24,999) funded the following programs and activities and others like them:

• McIntire School of Commerce
  A suite of career-search resources for McIntire students, including a business internship fair, online and print resource libraries, and research databases.
• School of Architecture
  Fellowships for four students to participate in ecoMOD,the design-build program, which is building its latest modular home, "ecoREMOD2:Adapt," in Falmouth, Jamaica.
• Darden School of Business
  Support for several months of First Coffee at Darden, a daily opportunity for informal discussion and the exchange of ideas among students, faculty, and staff that has become one of the school's most cherished traditions.
• College of Arts & Sciences
  A gift at the Colonnade Level helped fund scholarships to cover all or part of the costs of music lessons for 35 students majoring in music.

Serpentine Level Gifts ($5,000 to $9,999) funded the following types of programs and activities:

• School of Nursing
  Scholarships for two undergraduates who have demonstrated a commitment to professional nursing practice and maintained superior grade point averages.
• School of Law
  Support for a student to assist judges trying Rwandan genocide cases before the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda in Arusha, Tanzania.
• Curry School of Education
  Funding for Curry research conferences, where graduate students and faculty showcase their research and learn from each other's work.
• School of Architecture
  A stipend for two students to manage the U.Va. Community Garden for the summer and create a curriculum for University courses and local grade schools that incorporates the garden and sustainable practices.

Pavilion Level Gifts ($2,500 to $4,999) supported the following types of programs and activities:

• School of Law
  A stipend for a first-year student to work on violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act at the Boston office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
• Curry School of Education
  Support for ten local high school students to participate in the summer reading program at the Curry School's McGuffey Reading Center, which is the nation's oldest operating university reading center.
• School of Engineering and Applied Science
  Funding for the production costs of Spectra: The Virginia Engineering and Science Research Journal, a student-run, peer-reviewed journal that features stories about undergraduate research.

Portico Level Gifts ($1,000 to $2,499) funded the following programs and activities and others like them:

• School of Architecture
  Support for the first full-color printing of lunch, the Architecture School's student-run publication.
• School of Medicine
  Funding for four U.Va. MedConnect mentoring events, which are designed to teach current medical students about nonacademic medicine and to provide a forum for students to meet with outstanding medical alumni and local physicians.
