Making a Multiyear Pledge

Multiyear annual gift pledges can be a valuable approach for both the donor and the Student Affairs Division.  We will remind you each year to fulfill your annual pledge, and you can budget appropriately over a multiyear period.  Most importantly, Vice President Lampkin can count on your multiyear support in developing programs and projects designed to directly benefit our students.

We invite you to make a multiyear pledge for your annual gift to Student Affairs. Download the multiyear pledge form, and send your completed form to the Student Affairs Development Office, P.O. Box 400303, Charlottesville, VA 22904-4303.  You may also fax your completed form, ATTN: Allen Groves, to (434) 924-1002.

Matching Gifts from Employers

Many companies encourage their employees to make charitable contributions by matching their philanthropic support. At the University, donors receive credit for their employers' matching gifts. The impact of corporate matching support can be enormous. Among the most generous providers of matching gifts to the University are IBM, ExxonMobil, Philip Morris Companies and General Electric. In a single year, Exxon's matches to gifts from its personnel provide over $130,000 to U.Va. and its schools and programs. Hundreds of other companies have similar matching-gift programs. To find out if you work for one of them,
use this online search or consult your human resources office, which can provide you with a matching gift form.

Making Gifts of Endowment and Capital Projects

Transformative gifts of endowment and capital projects in the Campaign for Student Affairs will help to sustain or expand many student-focused programs at new levels of distinction, extend the reach of scholarship, and support our commitment to the discovery and dissemination of knowledge in a way that improves and enriches the lives of people around the world.

Gifts of endowment demonstrate your long-term commitment to support student life at U.Va. An endowment is a fund that is maintained in perpetuity — only a portion of the market value of the endowment is used for the purpose specified by a donor. Endowments reflect your interests and serve as a testament to your generosity.

Outright gifts may be used to help finance the construction of facilities, the renovation and expansion of existing buildings and facilities as well as the restoration of historic structures. Most often these significant gifts allow for naming and other recognition opportunities.

For more information, visit our summary of Goals and Priorities. For personal attention and advice, please call the Student Affairs Development Office, Allen Groves at (434) 924-7429 or allengroves@virginia.edu or Danny Steeper at (434) 924-8805 or steeper@virginia.edu.
